Skunks and the Hunt for an Apartment

You may ask what do these 2 things have to do with one another? That's what I thought until late last week. Steve and Robyn and I were out looking around the neighbourhood at potential places to live when we came across this house, plastered with "House for Rent" signs. Amazing location but the house was a little run down. There were weeds everywhere and it was definitely vacant. But we had already come up with deals we could make with the landlord - 4 months free rent to clean up the place, etc. So as Steve sat in the car and called the number on the sign, Robyn and I decided to investigate. We were pushing through bushes and overgrown weeds to get along the sidewalk along the side of the house. I was ahead of Robyn. All the sudden, I looked into the window well (you know the cut outs for basement windows) and saw 5 baby skunks crawling all over each other in that little thing!! I turned around, began pushing Robyn, and yelled, "GO! GO! GO!" We ran in the car, shut the door, and rocking back and forth, I told them what I had seen. Steve says, "no problem. You can be co-tenants." Yoinks. There are some pretty awful places out there. Beware. I'm going to look at a place tomorrow morning. Hoping to be rodent free.
